Jews Without Judaism
I was not raised Jewish. In order to live a rich Jewish life, I’ve lived in some of the most Jewish areas of the world: Jerusalem, Rockland County in New York and the Fairfax district of Los Angeles.
Currently I live in Kirkland, a suburb of Seattle. There are no synagogues and no organized Jewish life in Kirkland, but there are plenty of Jews.
While I enjoy living in Kirkland, I miss living in an area in which Jewish life is vibrant.
Admittedly, I feel a sense of loss when I listen to local Christians speak about their involvement in their respective churches and many local Jews have a limited association with Judaism.
Admittedly, I am disappointed when I see local churches and mosques being built, but no synagogues.
Admittedly, I am disheartened when I see many local Jews find spiritual fulfillment in other religions.
Sadly, within Kirkland there are many Jews and very little Judaism.
I started mobilerabbi because I want unaffiliated Jews to become connected to Judaism.
I am committed to perpetuating a Jewish community which is inclusive, supportive of Israel, dedicated to improving our world, encourages progressive Jewish worship and practice and promotes serious Jewish learning for all ages.
In a world which is 99.9% not Jewish, I consider myself very blessed and lucky to be Jewish.
I want to share my love of Judaism with others. You’re welcomed to join my spiritual journey.
